“The Five People You Meet In Heaven” written by Mitch Albom tells the story of a man named Eddie and his experiences in life and in heaven. During his time in heaven he encountered five people. As he starts to discover more and more about these five lives, it became clear to him that he had already met a few of these individuals on earth, and learns of how he had impacted these lives while on earth. Eddie finds that his life did have true meaning and purpose. I chose to read the novel “ The Five People You Meet In heaven” because I was captivated by the title. Growing up I had grown very fond of my grandmother and we grew very close to each other. Although I had a mother of my own, I always felt that my grandmother was my actual mom, and because of the prefix notion I never felt more alive and happier then when my grandmother was still alive and well. And like all life on earth, everything must end at one point and when that time came, I felt I loss myself as well and like a part of me had died and left this earth with her. I began to feel incomplete, and no longer had a purpose or belonged anymore. The title of the book looked reassuring in the sense that I would at least receive some form of insight to life after death. Eddie is 83 year old a war veteran who works as a park maintenance. Eddie felt like he had live a sad life and blames most of his problems on his father. Unlike most stories this novel starts with Eddie’s death. Eddie died in an unusual manner, he…
