Communication shapes our world and changes us everyday. Whether is though the masses or based off a conversation with your family or spouse, communication is an everyday tool. This essay, I will be speaking on the five contexts of communication which are
1) Intrapersonal Communication, 2) Interpersonal Communication, 3) Group Communication,
4) Public Communication and 5) Mass Communication. These are the five ways of communication. First form of communication is interpersonal communication. Third form of communication is group communication. Group Communication is common in the classroom or workplace. This involves a small group of different people coming together to interact and share with each other ideas and thoughts. This can be done for a testing of a new product with a company, in a classroom with a class assignment or even on a sports team.
I do believe this is a highly sought out way of how employers see how employees interact with each other in a work setting. There are pro’s to working in a group such as, seeing and hearing different view points that can educate and enlighten another individuals, therefore could help the message be properly communicated.

My least favorite form of communication, out of these five, is public speaking. The reason is because communication is hard enough between a two people in a small setting however, when you are trying to portray a message to a group as an individual, that can be nerve racking. My favorite form of communication is interpersonal communication. The reason this is my favorite form of communication is because when communicating to someone regardless of the setting, you are able to see their reaction and then react to them one on one. For example, when I’m speaking with a client on a new service amongst others, there can be some interference due to others opinions and reactions, good or bad. However, when I speak to a client one on one, I am able to convey my message, clear up any miscommunication and properly get their reaction to my message without much outside interference.

For the first major assignment for Professor Julia Green’s Communication 211 for Spring 2016, I partnered with classmates Lori Rainey and Sarah Beattie to “analyze how the different forms of communication yield different results when it comes to communicating” (Green, Week 4 - Major Assignment 1: Blog). By going through the exercises, I have reconfirmed that the form of online communication best suited to me is email versus social media such as Facebook, or texting. Unlike some people, I find texts are more difficult to respond to for many reasons, including the limitation of the touch-screen keypads, as well as the synchronicity of the communication, depending on the user’s attention to their phone. As an example, I routinely forget my cell…

As an emergency room nurse my mind is hard wired to treat patients as quickly as possible and have them vacate to an admissions bed or back home. The acute care environment can be so hectic that looking past a patient’s discharge instructions can easily be over looked. An emergency room nurse regardless of her or his acute care mindset still knows how to apply the nursing process to any plan of care at hand and it is no different to a plan of continuous care in a patient’s home. The key is sending home a plan formulated in conjunction with the input of the same medical professionals and support staff that took care of the patient in the first place. Nurses are no longer moving towards a care process of just following orders, yet as partners…

The purpose of psychoeducational groups is to teach group members a new skill or provide them with previously unknown information that will be of benefit (Toseland & Rivas, 2012). They specifically work well for functioning individuals who have a lack of knowledge in a particular area (Corey & Corey, 2006). In this group, the purpose was to teach members new communication skills, help them learn how to better manage and express their emotions, and how to improve interpersonal relationships. Psychoeducational groups for adolescents are beneficial because the peer interaction that occurs in these groups lets members observe and try out new behaviours in a controlled, nonthreatening environment (Bore, Hendricks, & Womack, 2013; Sayder, 2008; Van…
