There are several modes of communication that can be enacted to solve group issues. Among them are the defensive mode, the compromise mode, and the creative problem solving mode. In defensive mode some people feel they are winning and others will feel they are losing. This mode is used to gain time, ease off the situation, and give thought to solutions. The group members in the conflict can be separate, people can choose not to speak about anything, or come to an understanding that a conflict exists and review the issues (Huber, 2014). In the compromise mode, everyone gives something up and finds a half way point. With the creative problem solving mode solutions are found so everybody feels like winners. In confronting, charge nurse Witte can just cut to the chase and put together a meeting in one of the hospital conference rooms. During the meeting she can have the doctors express their reluctance and give input on a solution.
