The Employment Development Department is one of the largest departments within the State of California; it receives administrative funding from the Federal Department of Labor but fall under the jurisdiction of the State of California executive branch, specifically the Labor and Workforce Development Agency. The department was established to provide Disability Insurance, Labor Market Information, Job Service Assistance, and Unemployment Insurance. There are millions of California occupants relying on some form of service provided by the department; however, there are approximately 10,000 employees ensuring that the goals of the department continue to reach achievement.
