Coming to Xavier has been one of a kind. Xavier is not just your typical high school or private school. It is a very unique school. I went to public school for 9 years until I came to Xavier. I was very aware of Xavier since two of my cousins graduated from here, Shamara and Israel Valdez. Shamara actually introduced me to Xavier and encouraged me to go. She would always talk about her school and the environment. I was curious about it. If it wasn’t for my cousin I would of probably gone to La Quinta High School, since all my friends were going there. Some of my peers from my middle school, John Glenn actually came to Xavier. I was really excited. I was not one of those freshmen who didn’t know anyone, so it was not a hard transition from middle school. I did not mind coming to Xavier, I liked all my classes and my peers. The first day of school was kind of hilarious actually. I came to school really early and was mistaken for a senior. My response was “no, I’m a freshmen”. The seniors were very daunting from the perspective of a small freshman. Looking at some of the freshmen now makes me think that I seemed less small. I may be a little biased though.
