• Throughout the semester I observed Teddy gradually improving his gross motor movements. At eight months I set Teddy on the floor where he got on all fours and put his butt in the air and started to grunt as he rocked himself forward and backward trying to move. Teddy let out a small wail and then rolled over on his side and cried because he wasn’t moving. However, when I came back the very next week Teddy was working on pulling himself up on the gate, but kept falling over because his legs kept buckling. It wasn’t until two weeks later after I first observed Teddy attempting to crawl that I witnessed him doing it successfully as soon as I entered the classroom. The first day I was at the center Teddy was crying in his bouncer. So, I picked Teddy up and he stopped crying. I laid Teddy on the floor and he began to cry again. When I picked Teddy up he stopped crying, so I just let Teddy play while sitting on my lap; after that he was fine. The same thing happened four weeks later, Teddy was laying down and started to cry. I walked over, picked Teddy up, put him on my knee, and bounced him up and down. I was sitting over by the gate in the play area and Teddy was sitting right beside me. I looked at Teddy and said “Teddy, would you like to make some music?” I slid the toy xylophone over towards Teddy. Teddy reached for the xylophone accidently pushing a button. The xylophone made a noise and Teddy jumped. I looked at Teddy and said “It’s ok Teddy. Did the toy scare you? Look there is nothing to be afraid of!” I pushed the same button Teddy had pushed and it made noise again. Teddy leaned forward, pushed the same button as he had the first time, and the toy made the same noise. Teddy smiled. Teddy leaned forward and pressed all the keys at the same time with two hands repeatedly over and over after
