You 're staring at your child strangely as you hear those five words, "I want to be fat." Where did she hear that being fat was beautiful? That it was okay to be tipping the scale in order to obtain the new beauty. Knowing that excessive weight leads to heart failure, diabetes, and an early death. None of that mattered in the eyes of Hollywood forcing the "healthy" fat image on your child. Who thought it was fine to force that image? To say that being fat is okay is to say that health problems are a wanted gift.
The fat acceptance movement has been around for years confusing many people. Not having facts can keep you from knowing the truth. Being so quick to make body positivity for all sizes has been proven to be detrimental. "Being positive about the way you look is not enough, you also have to be positive (and proactive) about your health and well-being."(Hall) It is one thing to care about the outer beauty and please everyone 's opinions but, it is another thing to ignore the inner warnings signs. The support of the fat acceptance movement is barbaric in the opinion of an 18-year-old female who has been active most of her life. If you truly cared about your life and the beauty you can withhold you would never in a million years support this arbitrary cult.
