Abuse comes in many forms and unfortunately happens everywhere around the world. The general term abuse affects people of every age from 1 to 101. Abuse happens the most in your life when you 're the most vulnerable and that happens to be when you 're a child and when you 're a senior citizen. The fact of the matter is it does happen and it 's happening as i’m writing this essay. The dictionary definition of abuse is to use wrongly or improperly. 3.6 million referrals are made to child protection agencies a year. A report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds. In 2014 state agencies found an estimated 702,00 victims of child maltreatment, this would pack 10 modern football stadiums. In 2013 about 1,520 children died from abuse and neglect in the us. Keep in mind that all of the percentages are just what was reported, lost of cases are left unreported. One of the most common kinds of abuse is emotional abuse also called psychological abuse. For children emotional abuse is saying things that will make the child feel unloved, unwanted, unsafe and worthless. Isolating a child is a form of this kind of abuse. Isolation is not letting the child have friends or locking them in a room or house. Another kind is humiliation, which is making the child feel bad about himself. Intimidation is another and that 's when a family member or caregiver tries scaring the child.
