Unfortunately 2/3 of the people taking advantage of a vulnerable adult over the age of 65 are family members. Most of those family members are dependent on the vulnerable adults resources and usually have a drug or alcohol addiction.
Being a vulnerable adult means the individual is unable to care for themselves due to age or illness, and are unable to protect themselves from harm or exploitation. Safeguarding means protecting the vulnerable adult.
