Adam is 18 years old and has joined the army. Everyday he works so hard with all of his other soldiers. He and his other friend Jake are the only ones that are 18 years of age and aren’t supposed to drink. After long hours of working extremely hard, all of the older boys drink and relax, but Adam an Jake can’t because the drinking age is 21. This un fair to them because they are putting the same amount of work during the day as the older soldiers all fighting for their country, but can’t enjoy themselves afterwards. Some people believe that the drinking age should remain at twenty-one years of age; however, I believe that it should be lowered to eighteen years of age.
In the united states there has been an ongoing controversy on whether or not the drinking age should be lowered to eighteen like most other countries, or if it should stay the age of twenty-one. Underage drinking has been a huge issue for many years and needs to be under control. Teenagers are continuing to purchase alcohol with fake IDs, get into bars and drink illegally. Being that I am nineteen years old, I have proof that these things are going on, not only in college, but in high school as well. There are many reasons why the drinking age should be lowered to eighteen and the most obvious reason is because kids are still going to drink before they turn eighteen.
