Four planes were involved, they took off from three different airports along the East Coast (9/11 Attacks). The planes they chose were chosen strategically as well. They were transcontinental flights, so they had 20,000+ gallons of jet fuel on board. This would help cause a larger explosion when they struck the towers. The first plane to have impact was Flight 11, it took off from Boston Logan International Airport, it hit the North Tower (Inside 9/11). It was thought that when it initially hit the World Trade Center that it was a complete accident (9/11 Attacks). There were over 1,300 people stuck above where the impact zone of the plane was. The second plane that hit was Flight 175, it hit at 9:03, striking the South Tower (Inside 9/11). It struck about 18 minutes after the first plane (9/11 Attacks). Once the second one hit it was clear that America was under the attack of terrorists. While the attacks were going on, President Bush was reading to a group of kids at a school. He wasn’t alerted that the country was under attack until 5-7 minutes after it happened. The third plane took off from Washington Dulles in Washington DC (Inside 9/11). This plane hit the Pentagon at about 9:37 AM, on the West side. There were 189 total fatalities at the Pentagon, and another 106 …show more content…
They had been in the United States for over a year, enrolled in flight schools learning to fly large passenger aircrafts (9/11 Attacks). The plan involved 19 Islamic radicals. The Federal Aviation Administration was warned 52 times about possible attacks from Al Qaeda (inside 9/11). The towers they took down were by no means small, each of them roughly an acre in size (WTC 9/11). When they collapsed the tops of the buildings fell nearly a ¼ of mile to the ground reaching speeds upwards of 120 mph. No one even gave them collapsing a thought, until it happened (Inside 9/11). The towers’ coming down was such a large event that it registered a 2.3 on the seismograph (WTC
