As of today our adolescent homelessness is becoming a major problem in the United States. I am going to talk about the causes, the consequences, and the programs that may help them off the streets. So, why do these adolescents become homeless in the first place? Well the meaning of homelessness is a person or individual without a permanent home who may live on the streets, stay in a shelter, mission, single room occupancy facilities, abandoned house or a vehicle or any other unstable or non-permanent situation. The causes of adolescent homelessness are due to family problems, economic problems and residential instability. The outreach staff work collaboratively with local child welfare organizations but not only to tackle the problem of youth homelessness in our community. The residents and staff members of the Covenant House visits hundreds of schools trying to connect to young people to service that their friends may need and to raise awareness about teen homelessness.
