The circulatory system is the system that transports nutrients, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hormone. It also helps fight disease, maintain body temperature, pH, and homeostasis. There are two systems that make up the circulatory system which are the cardiovascular system and the lymphatic system. The circulatory system moves blood through the body and is made up of the heart, blood vessels and the blood. The lymphatic system moves lymph to various parts of the body and is formed by the lymph, lymph vessels and the lymph nodes. One of the largest functions of the circulatory system is to transport oxygen and remove carbon dioxide. All cells of the body need oxygen to stay alive. The circulatory system is a closed system that does not come in contact with the air so it is needed to circulate oxygen into the body. This process starts when a person inhales. Oxygen is carried across the lungs and into the bloodstream. The oxygenated blood is carried through the heart into the arteries, arterioles, and capillaries. When this happens the carbon dioxide is carried back to the lungs and is released in the lungs. Another function of the circulatory system is to transport nutrients and remove any waste. When food is absorbed in the bloodstream, the blood absorbs glucose into the liver. The liver, a solid organ, is the primary delivery source of glucose. Other nutrients and energy sources are sent through the body through the bloodstream in the same way that oxygen is delivered. Blood…
