M1 outline the adaptations to cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal and energy systems, brought about by regular exercise
Cardiovascular System
The cardiovascular system consists of the blood vessels and the heart. They function is to circulate the blood around the body to all the muscles. The red blood cells carry oxygen to all the muscles through the vein (carries blood to the heart). The veins have thin walls and contain blood under the low pressure. The arteries (carries blood away from the heart) have thick muscular walls and small passage ways. They contain blood under high pressure. The last blood vessels is the capillaries (found in the muscles and the lungs). They are one cell thick, and have low blood pressure. Being one cell thick allows gaseous exchange to happen in them. Oxygen diffuses in the capillary, and passes through to the tissues, while carbon dioxide passes the other way, from the tissues into the blood.

This is because it was a long period exercise, and I needed a vast amount of energy to do it. This meant the aerobic system was the best system to use because it provided enough energy for me to run the whole thing.
When doing the one rep max test, I used the lactic acid system. This was because I wanted quick explosive energy to lift up the weight for a short amount of time. This meant that it was the best system to use because it lasted under 30 seconds.
When doing the goniometer test, I didn’t need to use any of the systems. This was because it was a test of my flexibility. This meant that it wouldn’t of effect my score as it didn’t depend on what energy system I use.
Doing the Illinois test meant that I had to use the alactic system. This was because it was a intense exercise. It also was the best energy to use as it depended on chain reactions. I could’ve used the lactic acid system as well because it was under 30 seconds, but that system wouldn’t of produced better
