The Case for Affirmative Action: An Open Letter to Five Justices In the article “The Case for Affirmative Action: An Open Letter to Five Justices” by Dave Malcolm states that a great informal affirmative action program going for decades. What is exactly is affirmative action? Affirmative action means an action or policy favoring those who tend to suffer from discrimination, specially in relation to employment or education (dictionary.com). Affirmative action is one of the most controversial concerns in our society today and there are those who disagree. Admittedly, there are those who would disagree because equality is not going to be found in concentrating so hard on who is black, who is white, and who is in between. Though, it has a positive results. Furthermore, true equality is going to be found when we finally learn not to care about race. Equality will come when people finally decide that race does not matter. With affirmative action, race does matter because race is a big deal and race is everything. According to “RACE, CLASS, or PLACE?” by Chronicle of Higher Education proves that,“By now, there is almost no debate that the nation 's population is changing, becoming increasingly diverse both ethnically and racially. The number of white students enrolled in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade in U.S. public schools decreased from 28.7 million to 25.6 million, and their share of public school enrollment decreased from 60 percent to 52 percent.” Students or workers…
