During my first semester of college I have taken a U.S history Course that talked about many different things that we needed to know from 1492 to 1865 that was interesting. One of the first topics that were discussed in class that I remember was when we talked about George Washington. Who was George Washington? Well he was the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797. He was the guy that proved our system could work and he held everything together. George was 1 out of 4 of the presidents on Mount Rushmore. He also opposed political parties and wanted to build us up financially. The first Vice President was John Adams from Massachusetts who later became the second president of the United States from 1797 to 1801. Adams served as a diplomat in Europe to help negotiate the Treaty of Paris that ended the American Revolutionary war. The Revolutionary was also known as the America War of Independence. It was a war between the Kingdom of Great Britain and the 13 colonies on the on the North American continent. Next up in line that became president was Thomas Jefferson. Thomas happened to be the first secretary of state and the father of the democratic state. He believed that the federal government should be given as little power as possible so he wanted a strong state and local government. What did Jefferson do while as president?
