Terra Nova Consulting is an organization that has been experiencing many problems over the years. These problems are begging to grow and are threatening the long term survival of the organization. It is clear that there is a dire need for change within the organization. However, implementing change within an organization can pose some very challenging obstacles. There are many barriers that are restraining management from successfully implementing change. It is important to clearly identify a plan which analyzes exactly what can be changed and how the change should be brought about. The elements of “structure” and “people” are not congruent. The structure of the organization does not fit with the people working at Terra Nova. The structure that Terra Nova currently holds does not encourage the people of the organization to work efficiently together. The elements of “culture” and “work” are also rather incongruent because culture within the organization does not fit in with the type of work that is being done at Terra Nova. The curve “outlines where one should begin changing and where it becomes obvious that one needs to change” (Cawsey et al., 2012, p.42). At point B is the best time to introduce the change into the organization (Cawsey et al., 2012, p.42). At this point change can still be implemented successfully. However, if the organization is hesitant and avoids any changes and reaches point A, it may be too late for an organization to be successful (Cawsey et al., 2012, p.42). Therefore change must be implemented at an earlier phase in order for the organization to succeed. In the case of Terra Nova it is clear to see that they are implementing change at an appropriate time. Avoiding change any longer can be detrimental to the organization and could result in the failure of the business. When first implementing change Terra Nova will likely not experience benefits at first but the change will pay off in the long term It begins to improve once change is adopted, the change curve will continue to curve upwards and benefits will start to increase (Cawsey et al., 2012,
