For starters, one of the quotes i found in the book 1984 is “In the far distance a helicopter skimmed down between the roofs hovered for an instant like a bluebottle and darted away again..”. Another one of the quotes i found that makes their limitations stand out is, “it was terribly dangerous to let your thoughts wander when you were in any public or within range of a telescreen.” Even though Big Brother’s technology seems well put together it has it’s own flaws. For example, the police patrol is trying to snoop into people’s windows most likely to not be seen by anyone but obviously they are really noticeable and detectable since Winston describes perfectly how the police patrol snoops into their citizen’s windows. For the second quote it clearly states “within range of the telescreen”. If it’s not within the range of the telescreen then therefore it can not see what it can not reach. Winston takes advantage of this and writes on his diary beside the telescreen, where he can not be …show more content…
There has been many, articles about phones and other technology devices that may be giving off the same surveillance used as in 1984 that might be coming into a reality. It is slowly becoming to be like 1984. A quote i found in one of the article “That's no phone. That’s my tracker.” by Peter Maass and Megha Rajagopalan published in July 13, 2012 the quote says, “GPS technology and smartphone apps, those devices are also taking note of what we buy where and when we buy it, how much money we have in the bank, whom we text and email…” Another quote i really liked was “The new program synchronizes law enforcement date with real time video feeds from parks, beaches, business, corridors, and even some retail centers”. In the next quote, the article is stated in “FBI Abandons Carnivore Wiretap Software: Commercial Program, 3rd Party Wiretaps Now Used.” by ABC News, the quote says, “The new program synchronizes law enforcement date with real time video feeds from parks, beaches, business, corridors and even some retail centers.” The first quote talks and explains to us how our phones are practically tracking devices and they store all of our information to the smallest thing you can imagine. Our phone devices are like trackers that gives the government and our phone company information to where we are and what we might be doing every second
