It was a snowy November morning; I was driving to my Human Relations class at St. Cloud State University. On this day I saw my life flash before me because as I was driving to class my car brakes locked up and then I hit a patch of black ice right before turning next to the St. Cloud Prison on highway 10. My car slid about 50 feet and all I could do was just hold my steering wheel and pray for the car to stop. During this moment my sympathetic nervous system (SNS) was reacting to this tragic situation and the neurotransmitter epinephrine was being released into my body. The chemical epinephrine in my lungs was binding to the receptors on the smooth muscle cells therefore causing the muscle to relax and then this resulted in vasodilation (Genetic Science Learning Center, 2016). At the SA node of my heart the epinephrine was increasing the autorhythmicity of my pacemaker therefore causing an increase in my heart rate (Genetic Science Learning Center, 2016). The AV node which is located in between the tissues of the heart was making sure that there were normal electrical impulses traveling throughout my heart (McKinley, 2016). On the other hand, this vasodilation was decreasing the general systemic resistance to blood flow. My internal organs were experiencing vasoconstriction due to the fact that my body was experiencing stress and was more focused on the vasodilation of my upper extremities. My internal organs did not to be digesting food at this time because of the situation that I was in. During, the vasoconstriction of my internal organs the arterioles were constricting and my precapillary sphincters were closing (McKinley, 2016). However, the vasoconstriction in my internal organs that I was experiencing caused my blood pressure to increase and therefore resulting in increased perfusion of blood throughout my body (McKinley,
