The perspective is focused on the individual’s assessment and interpretation of society and the personal opinions that stem from them. It allows them to construct their beliefs, which then constructs their morals. People are then able reflect upon themselves and society, and determine for themselves what is the “ultimate purpose” of not only society, but life itself. These psychological and emotional components are what allow people to contribute and promote diversification in society, shaping the foundations upon which social constructs and institutions can be made so that they cater to their own desires. A specific example is seen by looking back to the original basis for the institute of the American Government, it was meant to be run by the people and for the people, promoting their ideals and protecting their rights as free citizens, holding all accountable and responsible to themselves and each other. The two opposing forces in this struggle are the bourgeoisie and the proletariat, whose conflict for power and control creates the parameters by which society operates. The issues and conflicts between the two classes is believed by Marxists to be incurred by the presence of capital, which in turn promotes the presence of greed within the bourgeoisie. Corruption and greed are the central, internal mechanisms that promote the foundational assumptions of Conflict Theory.
