Symbiosis or a symbiotic relationship is a close a relationship/interaction between two organisms of different species. The three main types of symbiosis are mutualism, parasitism, and commensalism. Mutualism is the symbiotic relationship where both the species benefits from the other. For example, clownfish live in sea anemones and because of this the clownfish eventually become immune to the paralyzing sting of the sea anemone. The sea anemone gives the clownfish a home and protects the clownfish from predators while the clownfish can attract other fish into the sea anemone giving it food. The clownfish also eats any leftovers keeping the sea anemone clean. On the other hand, parasitism is the symbiotic relationship between two organisms where one of the organism lives off the other. All three transects at each site were studied at the same time on one day. The transects were studied to look for visiting pollinators at the flowers during each of the 30 minute periods. There were four 30 minute periods beginning at 0900, 1200, 1500 and 1800. During the start of each period an observer would walk for 2 and half minutes down each transect and recorded any of visitors on the study plants. This process was then repeated five more times (Barthell, 2001, 1872). The same plants used for the flower monitoring were used to analyze seed set effects. To do this each plant was divided into four sections each section represented one of the directions NE, SE, SW, NW. One flower bud was selected in each section and treatments were randomly assigned to the resulting four buds. Treatments were applied during a 3 week period after the flower visitation period and included three mesh exclosures.
