Structuralism: Structuralism in international relations theory, adopts a holistic approach where structural factors such as world economic, political, social, cultural and economic life of countries. Structuralism can be used to understand the global structures and organizations that exist and are forcing increased illegal immigration. Particularly we are studying immigration in the era of globalization, how international regimes and American exceptionalism play a role in influencing immigration, creating an underground market for them and the impact it has on smuggling and human trafficking. The overall international structure and the relations between the host state and the Third state will provide a more overarching and broadening perspective of immigration.
