Taken from Week 9: (The Latino Experience) around the 1920s a sort of massive Mexican immigration to the U.S began to take place. The hope was for a better life and more opportunities,ones that they were unable to achieve in Mexico. Immigrant communities were established in many areas around the U.S primarily around where general labor jobs were easily found. The lure of economic opportunity and political freedom still to this day lures mexican immigrants to cross the border to the U.S. A large part of our economy relies on these immigrant workers. Without them the cost of many things would increase such as food for example, considering majority of the manual labor in the agriculture industry is done by mexican immigrants, but this is just one of the many industries affected and reliant upon immigrant
