Structural Family Therapy Apology

Thanks for the response. I told you not to call because it was 11:00 PM. We were going to bed at that time. I waited to call you at tutors hours. However, 8:45 pm there is 10:45 here. My apology.

First, I wanted to discuss the references. I went through the APA tutorial, and it is a little more clear now.
I also wanted to discuss some comments I received for my Case Study. For example, it said, “your task is to motivate the client since he attended the session”. I believe there are many ways to look at the situation. Since it is a structural family therapy, I though it was better to work with the family. Also, I personally believe outcomes will be better if counselor follows the worldview of the client instead of motivating the client

As a potential counselor, working with a family will be one of my biggest challenges in my premature career. Treating a family entails many factors such as learning their family system(s), culture/ethnic background, communication patterns and identifying any emotional themes among other important elements. Within this process, it is vital to hear all the voices of each family member to find out the concerns, issues or problems each one bring to the family dynamic. However, applying these elements in a family therapy session may look different for every family that seeks treatment. However, it is important to bear in mind that a family therapy session may be the only place, where each family member can have a voice and speak freely.…

Hello Dr. Williams, Thank you for responding to my e-mail, and yes I had to reach out to you when I realize the mistake. The assignment was totally demolished and I am here working on it. Despite the stumbling blocks that I have continuously attempting to overcome; giving up was never on my mind. The questions that you asked on that APA paper, along with the how you wanted the class to present the assignment to you was all foreign to me. However, I am still curious as to what came across your mind as you read the assignment.…

During the first stage of Strategic family therapy, the therapist makes sure to greet and interacts with all family members. In therapy this could be done using an open ended question. “Tell me a little about yourselves and what brings you all in today?” After saying that statement I would ask Kay to go first since she is the mother and not involved as much in Renee’s life as Brenda is involved. During the second stage the therapist’s main focus is to clarify the presenting problem.…

Working with the family has become one of my interested groups to work with in the future since the first day of Clinical Skills C class with specified family therapy. One of the vignettes, that we did the role-play in class was Hernandez family. I decided to do the comparison between two theories, Structural Family Therapy and Bowen Intergenerational Therapy, by working with this family. This family are Hispanic, and their presenting problem is lack of communication, especially with the daughter who is 18-year-old and was diagnosed with anorexia 6 months before the first session.…

Part IV – Family Therapy Case Conceptualization and Treatment 6a. I believe there are boundary issues in Julia’s family, specifically with her mother. Julia’s mother, as perceived by Julia, “has always tried to keep on top of what’s going on in our lives”, which indicates an overinvolvement in the children’s lives (p. 274). Julia’s mother would worry that Julia would not be working to her full potential and would constantly be on top of Julia to complete her homework and would form test schedules. Additionally, her mother would look over Julia’s homework before she submitted it and made sure Julia had planned enough time to study for her exams (p. 274).…

Two family therapy models that share similarities as well express fundamental differences are Structural Family Therapy (SFT) and Milan Systemic Therapy (MST). Both models identify the purpose of counseling as not solving a specific model, but addressing the interactions and relationships within the family unit (Wetchler and Hecker, 2015). As a result, this is a shared strength of each family therapy model. Even though both approaches identify differing intervention techniques, focusing on the “why,” as opposed to the “what,” gives not only the family, but counselors the ability to work towards solutions. Another key similarity between both models is the idea of non-normativity when it comes to the constitution of a family system; there isn’t any one model of a family that is considered better or ideal than others (Wetchler and…

I chose this model because the therapist needs to design interventions for change in behavior. According to Milan’s approach, families want to change a problem, while keeping the environment the same. In this case study, Matthew knows that his family’s behavior is very confrontational, yet he has not made any suggestions about staying home more to deal with them. Kiara knows her children are suffering from lack of parental guidance, yet she continues to use drugs. Jesse feels that his father is not there for him.…
