Sodium is important for good health, by helping the muscles, heart, brain and bones to work properly, but if the intake is too high, it can cause high blood pressure resulting in numerous health problems.
It is naturally found in many foods including milk and even water.
Sodium (also calcium, phosphate and potassium) is classed as a micro mineral and helps maintain normal fluid levels in the body’s cells, blood. The kidneys help with maintaining the right balance by filtering it into the blood or by removing it through urine.
RDA 2400mg.
Signs of deficiency include: heat exhaustion, low blood pressure, loss of appetite, muscle cramps, headaches and reduced body weight.
