Chronic Disease: A Case Study

There are many different risk factors exist from family history to daily diet habits. However, cigarettes smoking and physical inactivity provide the strongest correlation with increased incidence of chronic disease. First of all, smoking cigarettes damages the heart and blood vessels. In addition, smoking cigarettes mostly rises a risk of getting chronic diseases by increasing blood pressure which interferes the circulation of oxygen in the heart.
The other life style risk factor that provides the strongest correlation with increasing a risk of chronic disease is a lack of physical activities. The consequence of the current prevalence of physical inactivity is that the growth of the number of young adults with chronic diseases, which chronic diseases were used be associated with mostly older people in the past.

My fiber intake does not meet the recommendation. To increase fiber intake in my diet to meet the recommendation, I should add legumes to salads and soups. Also, I should increase whole-grain products intake.

My iron, zinc and potassium intake were below the DRI. The food sources for iron are legumes, fish, and dried fruits, for zinc are red meats, whole grains, and some breakfast

A high sodium intake is one of the major risk factors of the development of hypertension. Also, I have a family history of hypertension, in addition to it, I used to have slightly high blood pressure as a child, which I have been maintaining the average or less than average blood pressure level in past several of years. Yet, if I continue to consume the same amount of salt as right now, I would absolutely face those health problems.
Other than high sodium intake, I think my life style is pretty in a good shape. Continuing adequate physical activities, low saturated fat intake, no smoking and no alcohol life style will definitely be helpful in preventing risk of
