employment at the Dallas Police Department for over five years, the researcher
went on to complete a master’s degree in counseling. Since her employment at
the Dallas Police Department, she has worked in multiple positions and
agencies, both with police officers, their families as well as patients from the
general public. Since the researcher was at one point employed by
the Dallas Police Department in a similar capacity, and has maintained some
collegial relationships within the department, it is hoped this will facilitate rapport
and subjects will feel more comfortable being candid with the researcher. The
researcher currently lives in New York and does not anticipate being acquainted
with any study participants prior to this research study; however should that be
the case, these study participants would be disqualified from participation in this
study to better ensure it’s validity.
Dissemination of the Results

This study will be limited to one major metropolitan police patrol division, on one duty shift in Dallas, Texas. Only female patrol officers will be surveyed, with between six months and fifteen years of service. No studies of investigators, or supervisors will be conducted, and this study will also omit those officers who have served more than fifteen years, resigned, transferred, have been promoted or retired.
