This paper is a book review. I will explain why I have selected this specific book and the impression the book has on me. I will use an external source preferably a reliable source that relates to the selected book to either collaborate or contradict the text. Also, I will explain how or why the book will have or not have an impact on me. This is because the book addressees the anxieties and stresses that are associated with the modern world. The articulation in the book will critically be reviewed and compared with other works that are associated with the books ideologies.
I selected the book “10-Minute Mindfulness: 71 Simple Habits for Living in the Present Moment by S. Scott and Barrie Davenport". I chose the book mainly because of the ideas it articulates and the manner in which the author arranges and brings out his points to address issues that face us in our day to day lives as a result of worrying too much. As a student, anxiety occupies a huge part in my day-to-day to life mostly resulting from stress in balancing classwork and social life, decisions and how those decisions impact me. In this book, the term mindfulness which closely relates to the idea of meditation brings in a whole new understanding with it by pointing out that mindfulness is becoming intentionally aware of my present moment while paying close attention to my feelings, thoughts and sensations. As a student, it’s easy to get lost in thoughts, fears and anxieties about the future and the past subconsciously which contributes to poor or rushed decisions which come to haunt us later.
