Remember the Titans and Rabbit Proof fence both are movies which deal with a lot of racism and discrimination, but Molly and Gerry both tried to drive as much change as they could with either their team or family. In Remember the Titans, Gerry represented his strong decisive leadership skills and the way that shaped his team into being so successful in the NFL matches. In Rabbit Proof Fence, Molly showed out her creative resourceful skills that helped the girls get all the way to Jigalong successfully. Molly and Gerry both drove as much change as they possibly could, but Gerry had the power to decrease the racism and discrimination in Virginia. Throughout the movie when Coach Boone had become coach, Ray purposely tried to sabotage the team while playing games, so that they would lose and Coach Boone would get fired. Gerry saw what Ray was doing, then made a smart decisive decision to kick Ray out of the Titans team as it was unfair for Coach Boone to get fired just because Ray was a racist. This decision of Gerry’s made the team stronger and built more trust for all the boys in the team, and Ray being gone made them forceful as there wasn’t anyone on the team deliberately trying to make them lose. Another time when Gerry showed his decisive smart leadership skills was when Gerry’s old white friends wanted to hang out, but Gerry still wanted to hang out with his black friend as well, but the white people didn’t want to hang out with the black people. So then Gerry left and stopped talking to his white friends because they were being racist and unfair towards the black people. They both are dedicated and persistent leaders because of the actions they have made. Gerry’s decisions and how he pushed everyone to their full abilities then made the team win every NFL match, which then grew the respect and decreased the racism from the community. Gerry wasn’t happy at first with the black people integrating with the white NFL team because at the start of the movie Gerry was a racist, as the movie progressed he changed into an accepting team mate who wanted to drive change in other people so that they would be accepting of the black people as well. Molly was a strong leader but she didn’t drive as much change as Gerry did, as she had no control over the Stolen Generation so she couldn’t really change anything as it was out of her power. Even after Molly and the girls escaped the camp, nothing changed because the aboriginal children still continued on being taken away from their families. Molly still with the limitation of things that she had, she still successfully made it back to Jigalong and with the knowledge she had learnt from her mother kept her going even when she felt like giving up. When Molly and Daisy were in the desert they saw the bird flying around in the sky, then they realised they were close to home because their mother once told them that this bird would keep them safe because it’s close to home. Hence why Gerry was a more powerful leader
