Remember The Titans Research Paper

In the early to mid 1900’s racism was a problem in the United States of America, where minority groups were treated poorly for being apart of a minority. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the many people to help abolish segregation, and he was supporting all minorities not just the black people. Remember the Titans took place during this time of segregation. The Titans-football team- was the only team in the state to have black and white americans play together. Coach Boone got rid of segregation on his team by 1 getting the players to get along, 2 he got them to respect each other, and 3 getting them to judge each other on their skill and personality instead of their skin color.

The first example of coach Boone getting rid of segregation on his team was getting the players to get along with each other.One way he got them to get along was by making them share rooms. Boone made each room have one white person and one black person in it. Boone making them share rooms made them interact with each other and the players learned more about each other. This caused the players to develop friendships with the other races. Another thing he did was give them a speech to work together. Boone took the team to a graveyard and said they need to work together if they want to win. The players on the Titans football team cooperated in the games. They learned to rely on each other when doing plays and believed in each other even though they were different skin color. Sunshine got accepted on the team even though he was a hippy and homosexual. The players didn´t exclude sunshine because he was different than them and they respected him for who he was. All the players became friends even though they had different views on
