Picture a barren wasteland, empty of any thought that branches outside of normality. Beige walls decorate bland streets filled with broken dreams and sullied minds. This is the world without art. Earth takes breaths of life and joy because we strive to create. The world needs art, not for survival, but for the sake of its people. To rephrase: humanity needs art. Art and music help to fuel the brain, these fields of creativity are challenging and meddle with the way humans think. Art is healthy for the mind, and beneficial; yet, some believe art should be cut from public education. Never has art taken away from a person or hindered their ability to think or participate in school. Students who have taken four or more years of art education have proven to typically score twenty or more points higher in the SAT than an average student (Ruppert). Art is believed to help students of a higher level accept and realize that there is more than one approach to a challenge of a higher caliber (Jarvis and Gouthro). Some professors will use art to aid their students in understanding their works, and to allow them to come to an understanding that they are allowed to formulate their own opinion (Jarvis and Gouthro). While in most circumstances a professor may introduce a logical solution to a problem, a nice dichotomy can be formed by also introducing an emotional solution via art, because of the way art evokes many emotions (Jarvis and Gouthro). Furthermore, art gives students social commentary, and provide students with solutions to social solutions, as well (Jarvis and Gouthro). Regardless, art will certainly follow one’s wonderful journey of life, and suggesting otherwise would be a false
