Not too much separation
People have always wanted to be part of an “ideal” society. It is however hard to create said ideal society. If an equilibrium between men and women must be achieved all while retaining a clear separation between the proletariat and bourgeoisie classes. A balance between men and women allows for anyone to take on work opportunities. The more successful bourgeoisie classes keep the working class in peak performance. As such, these factions are important in a society to function in an orderly fashion. There is no physical reasons which prevent men or women from doing a particular task, as such, there is no reason to allow a separation …show more content…
At the center of the Marxist ideology/theory, the goal is to free workers or the proletariat from being exploited and oppressed by the bourgeoisie in a capitalist society. It is supposed to bring greater equality between the classes. It is important that a main director of workforce remains in society. It allows a workforce to be coordinated and allows for uninterrupted productivity. At some point in the story, “Shukhov decided to report sick” At that very moment, his blanket and jacket were imperiously jerked off him. [...] Looking up at him, his head level with the top bunk, was the lean figure of the Tartar” (Solzhenitsyn 14). The worker attempted to slack off because it was cold outside. The concentration camp guards keeps the workers working according to schedule. This shows the need of a set of people such as the bourgeoisie (who control the means of production) to keep the workers in order and on schedule allowing for minimal downtime and maximizes productivity in a society. Later in the story, when it was dinner time, Ivan “removed his cap from his shaven head—however cold it was, he wouldn’t let himself eat with his cap on—and stirred up his skilly, quickly checking what had found its way into his bowl.” This an example of Shukhov’s attempt to struggle for dignity when facing the degradation of camp life. Prisoners aren’t expected to remove their hat when eating but Shukhov’s decision to remove his hat despite the cold signifies his wants to live a civilized life. This again shows that people need to have a goal to work towards in order to stay motivated. An article from Electica has made a point suggesting that there remains a need for a separation between the ordering class and the work. They said: “he has been incarcerated by a system founded upon the illusory rise of the working class.”. They
