INTRODUCTION [Kultgen] School uniforms have been becoming more popular in society. The first record of school uniforms in the history of education was in England, in 1222. Students would wear an outfit called a “cappa clausa,” which is a robe like outfit (“Should students have to wear school uniforms?”). In the 1900’s, school uniforms were not required at the public schools, but were many times required at the private schools (English School Uniform). School uniforms should be mandatory in schools because they help decrease the amount of bullying, they make enforcing the school dress code easier, and they save people time and money.

POINT [Kultgen] School uniforms prevent people from violating the school dress code and wearing inappropriate attire to school. It would make it makes it easier to enforce the rules on clothing because everyone has to wear the same thing. Along with that, it would help to prevent some distractions. This would help to prevent distractions at school because people would not being paying so much attention to other people’s outfits. As stated in an article, “a bulletin published by the National Association of Secondary School Principals stated that ‘When all Students are wearing the same outfit, they are less concerned about how they look and how they fit in with their peers; thus they can concentrate on their schoolwork’” (“Should students have to wear school uniforms?”).
