Moritz the moral philosopher, was only seeking to understand the moral conduct, moral phenomena but was careful not to create them or guide them. As a moralist, he was interested in the quality of life itself and he seeks to enlighten men with respect to the good of life, and therefore, he came with a practical goal and not in the theoretical goal. Therefore, as a moralist, he taught that the good life is a full life, which is to the highest amount of activity valued for its own sake.
Therefore, he said that activities that are valued in and for themselves are properly called or known as play. He also agreed with Schiller that man is truly man only when he plays. And, as a youth is characteristically the time of play, and the concept of “youth” is the clue to the meaning of life. He also believed that whenever man acts out of the joy in acting, it’s believed that his youthful regardless of his age and not only that, it entails philosophically that his life is meaningful.
