Notwithstanding this Saroo has a great deal of fond recollections of his mother never failing to be kind, caring, and affectionate. Saroo has the upmost respect for his mother and writes “This episode stayed with me as an example of my mother's courage in turning to face down her pursuers,” (Brierley 31), in this quote Saroo shares the time when his father threw a rock at his mother and his mother was brave enough to take it. This quote presents the possibility, that while his early childhood was undisputedly difficult, Saroo still lived happily with the help of his impassioned family. Any child who has been separated from their family at a young age might feel as though they're missing a part of themselves, however if Saroo had not recalled his family members in positive spirits he may have felt unmotivated in terms of finding his family. This quote is significant due to the fact that Guddu, Saroos eldest brother was often away working, but despite this Saroo and Guddu were still able to form a caring relationship and secure a full collection of memories. The basis of Saroos early personality was based off of or at the least shaped by his eldest brother Guddu, accordingly this quality time Saroo spent with Guddu was significant in Saroo’s future. Moreover, it is highly likely that among alternative circumstances Saroo might come to more highly regard the negative experiences with his family, that is if it were not for the fond memories he shares with his family.
