There were some teenage girls who were wildly accusing older women left and right. 22 out of 29 of the accusers were in their teens and over 60% of the accused women were 41 years or older (document B). “She shook her head, and the afflicted were tortured.”(document C) “They soon became intoxicated by the terrible success of their imposture.(Document D) These selections are important because they show that the girls were acting by being drunk with power and success.
The poor people were jealous of the richer people. The map shows that most of the accusers were on the west side which was the poorer side of town. Most of the accused witches were on the richer side of town.(document E) This is helpful because the poor accusers probably wanted to get rid of the richer people.
The two poor intoxicated girls let their jealousy lead them to starting the Salem Witch Trial Hysteria. The older women accused by the teenage girls, little crazy girls, and jealousy were all factors in this event. The Salem Witch Trials was a terrible, crazy, and exciting part of history and we hope it won’t somehow repeat
