“For it is in giving that we receive.” This was said by one of Saint Clare’s most influential leaders that taught her and led her to the Kingdom of Heaven as a saint. Saint Clare was born on July 16, 1194 in Assisi, Italy. She was born into a wealthy family. Influenced by her mother’s faith, she started to pray at a young age. Although she lived surrounded by luxurious things she managed to keep a strong belief in God. She learned how to read, write, and also other things like spin yard and needlework. Time to time ,Clare, would get leftovers after dinner to give to the poor. When she was 18 she visited a preaching held by St. Francis of Assisi. She had a strong character and fought for her beliefs. She succeeded in doing so when her order was passed. Two virtues that stand out in Saint Clare is her loyalty and her perseverance. From a small age Clare was loyal because she always chose God over anything else. She even left her family just so that she could dedicate every moment of her life to him. She showed perseverance when she wanted to pass the order. Even though it was difficult she didn’t give up. Two things I admire about my saint is her courage to stand up and her willingness to give up her whole life just for God. During most of her life she had the courage to make a change in society and she did. She also left her life as a wealthy girl and traded it to for one of the poorest instead. What I found interesting about my saint is that even with her strong character she was always very humble and quiet. Most of the time she was in a peaceful state of mind. Saint Clare of Assisi, although inspired and influenced by St. Francis of Assisi, still left her own legacy by helping her sisters, praying, while living a life of
