Rosenberg's Video Summary

Rosenberg’s video on non-violent communication really struck a chord with me. I have dealt with a variety of conflicts primarily involving union workers and their leadership team. One organization in particular stands out when I think of Rosenberg’s process. The union workers in this company were very frustrated and angry with management for their lack of communication and reduction in benefits, among other things. I joined the company as an HR Representative (a non-union position). I was seen as the enemy and met with hostility and mistrust. Employees would come into my office and bark at me, treating me as if I was the sole cause of their problems.

I really tried to see past their anger and resentment and hear what they were really saying

    Non-violence works as a strategy to bring about change because it is morally and strategically superior to any other strategy, and because it works for changes that will benefit all people. Non-violence, as a morally and strategically superior method to bring about change is first seen in Document 1.
