Roman Influence On American Education

Education in modern day America has not been heavily influenced by education in Ancient Rome. The people of Rome had different ways of education, but now, we don’t do anything like they did back in Ancient Rome.
When a child was taught, a tutor was sent to the house to teach, or the child had to walk to a school. Intelligent and gifted slaves could go to school too. They used clay tablets and scrolls to learn. Today, we use tutors differently, tutors we use are to help kids learn. Not many kids back then could learn. We go to school by cars, buses, and sometimes, we walk.
Children could go to school around the age of six. Schools taught lots of skills, but the main subject was oratory, the art of public speaking. They also learned reading

This was the art of public speaking. Public speaking was highly respected in Rome. We use public speaking almost everyday, but we don’t learn about it.
Everyone in Rome had to make a public speaking once in their life. If the talked about and Roman gods or goddesses, they had to speak appropriately about them. Everyone today makes a public speaking, but we make different statements. Oratory was taught in all schools, in all grades. Today, we make public speakings, but we don’t learn this same skill.
Oratory was a big deal back then, just like it still is today. We use it all the time, especially with education, but we don’t necessarily learn this topic. Education wasn’t necessarily made. The concept of school, however, was.
The concept of school was made by a man named Horace Mann.
In every century, parents wanted the child to be educated and have a smart lifestyle.
Schools from different places at the time taught different skills.
All throughout the years, everyone was educated. Parents and little children were educated. Education impacted modern day America, helping us learn and educated. Everyone is educated today. In conclusion, education in Ancient Rome, while complex, is very different from education in modern day
