Rise And Spread Of Islam Essay

The rise and spread of Islam has many causes. For the new religion movement in the Arabian Peninsula has dominated many non-Arabian groups. And because of this domination of non-Arabian people they were able to spread their influence and faith. In fact, there are three such examples that show insight of the rise and spread of Islam. The first example is the Pact of Umar (ninth century CE), second is the Quranic Comments on the Torah and the Gospels (early seventh century CE.),and the last is Abu Uthman al-Jahiz, on the Zanji (c. 860 CE). In fact, he is countering the “curse of ham,” which claims that black-skinned people are descended from disgrace Ham (one of Noah sons) and bears the mark of god displeasure. This gives the Muslims slavers a good reason to enslave the non-Arabian people of Africa. Throughout this passage he gives the Muslims who conquered the Africa through military conquest a scientific proof of why his people skin is black. He tries to show proof by saying “God did not make them black in order to disfigure them; rather it’s the environment that has made them so.” This is one example were the conquering and the Muslims belief effect the non-Arabian people in a negative. Overall the Muslims rise and spread of their beliefs and influence has caused either negative or positive effects to non-Arabian people. This can be proven by the many examples in the Ch. 9 and 10 in the text book that support this claim and coincide with the things that have been shown in these
