Rhetoric is the most effective way to persuade people. Whether it is being used to persuade them into your side or make them do something, Rhetoric is a great way to do so. If used perfectly, you can persuade many people. In these four pieces of text, Rhetoric was used effectively to convey the feelings/emotions they wanted to. In the first piece of text was in the Times Magazine and is written to anyone who purchased the magazine. The purpose was to show and tell the readers that the astronauts have made it.The reading uses Ethos and Pathos as Neil Armstrong is the one who is quoted. Many people would trust Neil Armstrong as he was there. The article also spoke about people’s reactions and feelings. Many people such as President Nixon, the Pope, and people all over the world reacted to this. The text makes us feel happy as we have come a long way with technology and it shows how people used this event to be more positive of their future. The second piece of text was written by William Safire,who at the time was President Nixon’s speechwriter which establishes Ethos.The text/speech was for anyone listening/reading when it was said to everyone that heard it with the purpose of informing us about the …show more content…
It has a darker tone than the rest of the pieces of text. It conveys many emotions the more you look into it. The purpose of this is to show us how we neglect the problems of our world and focus at something else. You can see how man is extremely interested looking at the launch from TV on the moon. While this is happening, we see the Earth with all the problems plaguing it. It is trying to tell us to focus on our own planet and fix it's problems before we go on to focus on other planets. If we don’t, then these problems will continue to grow. To this day, poverty and prejudice are some problems. Soon enough, war will be a problem too. This cartoon is trying to tell people to wake up, but many have and will not do
