Response 1: The Family of Little feet seemed insignificant at first because Esperanza talked about “Plump little feet”. At first this made no sense to the reader because she was talking about shoes and plump feet. But as this vignette goes on it was important to the characters because it was one of Lucy’s defining moments on her trip through life and an experience with a guy. Although the girls “Were glad the shoes were gone”, it was important for them to experience a lesson of how the real world really is in their neck of the woods.
