Romeo is kneeling in the stale, musty burial vault of who is assumed to be his most abhorred enemy, the Capulets, but he is next to Juliet. He is next to the one whom he cherishes the most, the one that life is not worth living without. With a kiss, Romeo drinks from the shimmering vial of poison as he waits for the venom to course through his veins and make him the first martyr of his kind.Romeo Montague is a character from William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. At the balcony scene after the party, Romeo went to see Juliet. Juliet was just standing on her balcony talking to herself when Romeo is hiding in the bushes of the Capulet Orchard, and hears her innermost confessions like when she says,” O Romeo, O Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?/Deny thy father and refuse thy name/Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,/And I'll no longer be a Capulet ”(2.2.33-36).He even says in an aside,” Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this? “(2.2-37) So he is contemplating whether he should I listen to what compliments she is giving to him, or should he say something to make it stop? Romeo listens to what she says, and he waits no more, he comes out of the bushes he was hiding in and says”I take thee at thy word:/Call me but love, and I'll be new baptized;/Henceforth I never will be Romeo.(2.2.50-52) So he’s heard enough. He’s ready to get married with Juliet. For instance, when Tybalt,( the nephew of the Capulets) challenges him to a duel and Mercutio,( one of Romeo’s friends and family of the prince) dies because of the duel, he should not have trying to murder Tybalt. Romeo should have stopped the fight and went back home when Tybalt was gone and Benvolio had said,”O Romeo, O Romeo, brave Mercutio is dead!/That gallant spirit hath aspired the clouds,/Which too untimely here did scorn the earth(3.1.115-117).Killing Tybalt will not make Mercutio’s death any better. If Romeo had thought twice before he had fought Tybalt, he could have still lived in Verona instead of being banished. Another one of Romeo’s mistakes, is when Romeo goes to the party, even when he had the feeling that if he went to the party, he would die because of it. Romeo’s mind was addled with the thoughts of seeing his past love, Rosaline, but Romeo didn’t want to see her. Benvolio was the one who really pressured Romeo to see other girls at the party.” Go thither and with untainted eye,/Compare her face with some that I will show”[1.1.]. If Romeo really was pure and he was true in his love, he would pursue Rosaline instead of being such a pushover and going to the party to see other girls. One other error in Romeo’s judgement was keeping his love with Juliet a secret. This is a mistake that Juliet makes as well. They both think that keeping their relationship a secret is a valid and
