It also frees them and helps them reclaim a more realistic outlook at life which is very progressive and healthy for their mental state (Martinez-Lewi, 2008). Precious came to this conclusion on her own in the end. At the end of the book for she leaves with her children despite her mother’s attempts of begging her to come back home, a deserving end to a book about rediscovery and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity. Hopefully her story and others like her do not end there but rather start afresh from that point.
My View Point
A point that can never be over-emphasized is that as a social worker it is never our intent or priority to broadcast such scandalous cases it is strictly out of the question and goes against my work ethics. When a victim opens up to me in my capacity as a social worker, I cannot misuse that position to display a vulnerable person challenges. It is simply gross misconduct.
