Wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement. When going up against the men of Jabesh, Saul was very wise. He tricked them into thinking they were going to surrender but instead he and his men broke into their camp, slaughtering every one of them. However, Saul ignored God and his wise council, which allowed the spiritual health of his people to deteriorate much further than before. This alienated them from God. Odysseus was wise when he listen to Circe, who told him to plug his men’s ears with beeswax and to bind him to the mast of the ship when passing through the island of the lovely Sirens. When going to the land of the Lotus-eaters, Odysseus’ men eat the fruit which makes them lose their memory. Smart-thinking Odysseus drags his men back to the boat and locks them up to get them off the island. When Samuel was a little boy he grew in stature, wisdom, and in favor with the Lord and with people. He grew and learned from the Lord and listened to what he wanted him to do or say. As time went on, King David had sinned in the eyes of the Lord by committing adultery and murder. One day while traveling to Bahurim, David was pelted with stones and cursed at by Shimei. His officials wanted to get the man but David told them not to. He said “Leave him alone; let him curse, for the Lord has told him to. It may be that the Lord will look upon my misery and restore to me his covenant blessing instead of his curse
