Fairvote.org says, “Research indicates that there is a “trickle up” effect on civic participation. When 16- and 17-year-olds engage in civics, conversations about politics and local issues are brought to the dinner table. Parents and family members are engaged in civic life through the 16- and 17-year-olds in their household, with a positive impact on voter turnout for people of all ages.” The best way to get someone to engage in civics, thus increasing conversations about civics, is to involve them. Involving teens in voting will create new conversations and excitement among teens about what it means to be able to cast a vote, bringing to light the importance of voting among all age groups. There is, even more, evidence showing this too. Youthrights.org says, “Reports show that even this modest gesture to including youth increased the interest in voting of their whole family. Parents were more likely to discuss politics with their kids and thus an estimated 600,000 adult voters were more likely to vote because of it.” This statistic shows that by getting teens involved in politics, adults are more likely to vote. Kids who work pay into Social Security without say as to how it's managed.When you guys fix Social Security, you have to keep adults happy. You can rob our future without losing a vote. Poverty among young people exceeds all other age groups.” The fact is that not only do 80% of teens hold some sort of job before the go to college (youth rights), but that teens pay over 10 million dollars a year in taxes, and yet have no say how in what gets done with these funds. Any American citizen paying into American programs deserves to have a say in how these programs are managed. Teens have an invested interest in the country as a whole, long after all current legislators are gone, in order to protect our future - we must give teens the right to vote. It is only
