If an individual is well aware of what the repercussions of unhealthy behaviors could be they would perhaps refrain from such behaviors. Health psychologists have therefore attempted to understand and predict health-related behaviors by studying health belief, health behaviors are regarded as any behavior that is related to the health status of the individual.

The reason is that TPB emphasizes behavioral intentions as the outcome of a combination of several beliefs. The theory proposes that intentions should be conceptualized as ‘plans of action in pursuit of behavioral goals’ (Ajzen and Madden 1986). Just like an attitude towards a behavior, which is composed of either a positive or negative evaluation of a particular behavior and beliefs about the outcome of the behavior, unlike protection motivation theory which can be unpredictable and people changing their minds towards certain motivation. For example, a person being motivated by a friend and decided to stop smoking but couldn’t hold for long due to some factors surrounding him, so he changed his mind and started smoking again. This why I prefer the TBT because it has been planned and it will be hard to change the behavior. TTM presumes that at any given time, a person is in one of five stages of change: pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, or maintenance. the idea is that people move from one stage to the next. Each stage is a preparation for the following one, so hurrying through or skipping stages is likely to result in setbacks. Also, different strategies are needed at different stages. For example, a smoker who's at the pre-contemplation stage that is, not even thinking about quitting smoking probably isn't ready to make a list of alternatives to
