The repository used by the website is called Multidimensional Insurance Data Analytics System (MIDAS). MIDAS had many issues with safeguarding and yet was still utilized for a website which will hold personal information such as names, social security numbers, and addresses. The Government Accountability Office stated, “Healthcare.gov had weaknesses when it was first deployed, including incomplete security plans and privacy documentation, incomplete security tests, and the lack of an alternate processing site to avoid major service disruptions” (Hendrie, 2015). So many risks are in play when running a bad repository. The government continues to compromise so many citizens all over the country because of its lack of effort. All these citizen have to now worry about possible cybercriminals getting a hold of their personal information and compromising their lives. To make matters worse, this is not only compromising individuals around the country, but it’s also costing tax payers an outrageous amount of tax dollars to fix these issues. By shutting down the website, the government can go ahead and fix the continuing issues going on with the site. The website is so compromised, this would be the only way to fix it. For example, if you have a leak in a bowl you cannot continue to pour water into it and expect for the problem to be fixed. By emptying the bowl and fixing the issue, the bowl will no longer be compromised and you will be able to put water into the bowl again.
