There are so many controversies nowadays in the United States alone, and abortion remains one of the hot topics. Abortion is an act of terminating a growing human life within a mother’s womb either medically or surgically. Medical abortion is when a woman takes a pill early in the course of pregnancy to abort a fetus and surgical abortion is when a fetus is removed from the uterus with the help of a vacuum and a spoon-shaped device with sharp edges also known as a “curet” (Abortion Risks). There are many risks involved with abortion, such as heavy bleeding or hemorrhage, cut or torn cervix, complications from anesthesia and many more. There are two sides of this argument pro-life and pro-choice.
Many people who argue against abortion, think of it as an act of murder, and they also believe that life starts at conception and killing a fetus before it is born is considered cruel and torturous. Pro- life argues that a human fetus should get a chance and should have a right to live. However, many also believe that “Personhood begins after a fetus becomes "viable" (able to survive outside the womb) or after birth, not at conception” (Pro & Con Arguments, 2016). However, many also argue that a fetus is not considered its “own entity” as it needs another human being to survive. This statement opposes the pro-life argument, as pro-life argues that life starts with conception.
