Chronic diseases are long- term diseases that are not contagious and largely preventable. They are the most common cause of death in the world and present a great burden for society particularly diseases such as breast cancer diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Eating a well balanced diet can help reduce people’s chances of enduring chronic diseases such as cancer diabetes and cardiovascular disease while at the same time helping them promote a healthy and longer lifestyle. The hormone insulin helps breakdown the monitor carbohydrates and fats eaten in a person’s diet. Nutrition and diet are very important to the prognosis of diabetes. The body’s way of formulating insulin is affected by the diet one chooses. The right diet can help reduce some risk factors of diabetes such as high blood pressure obesity and age. This can help regulate the body’s glucose without having to take insulin. One preventative method one can follow to keep from developing type 2 diabetes is eating healthy. Eating healthy and maintaining a healthy weight is one of the most effective ways to reduce one’s risk of type 2 diabetes. Experts say losing 5% to 10% of your total weight can help lower blood sugar tremendously as well as reduce people’s risk of diabetes. The Harvard T.H. Chan School Of Public Health states that choosing a diet rich in whole grains and healthy fats adds even more protection- skip the refined grains and sugary soda. The National Institutes of Health conducted a break through study to show that diet in conjunction with exercise can delay diabetes.
